----- THE 6 FORUM COMMANDMENTS -----
(currently under revision)
THOU SHALT NOT DISCUSS WAREZ!
WAREZ (pronounced wares) noun, 1. Pirated software 2. Cracks, Patches, Serial Numbers used to unlock pirated software, 3. Software you didn't pay for!!)
No Warez Discussions. It does not matter if you have a legitimate copy of Max or a Warez version. Keep it to yourself. This topic almost always leads to a fight and has no place here.
- Do not ask about your hardware lock problems
- Do not ask where to get warez
- Do not poll the audience on how many warez users are among us
THOU SHALT BE TRUE!
TRUE (pronounced tru) adjective, 1. Legitimate, Honest, Truthfull
Do not lie. There have been several instances of lying on the forum and each time they have been caught. Also lying almost always results in a huge flame war and the loss of respect from the rest of the forum directed toward the purgurious person.
- Do not commit plagiarism (Do not claim other peoples work or ideas as your own).
- If you make a copy or something inspired by someone elses work give the original artist credit up front.
- Fill out your Bio correctly. Do not assume anonymity on this forum. You will recieve zero respect and zero assistance from us if you are trying to hide something. And believe me, we check.
THOU SHALT NOT POST CRAP!
Crap (pronounced CRAP!) noun, 1. Poop, Shit, Dung, Rubbish, Nonsense, Stuff 2. Anything that is not interesting and useless
Don't post crap on the forum. Before you post something ask yourself whether this post is going to benefit or interest anyone who might read it. If it is a question make sure that you are not just being lazy. See if you can find help from the manual, help file, books, or tutorials before asking here.
- Do not use the forum as a chat room (Don't address posts to one individual or post topics that have no interest to anyone else)
- Do not use the forum to test your signature, test your html, or test posting a pic. If you wish to preview your signature just click on "save changes" in the personal settings area. If you wish to test something else "in-forum" do it in a post that is near the bottom and is no longer active.
- Do not post way offtopic subjects except in the offtopic section (Anything having to do with 3d graphics, 3d hardware, or other subjects that you think may be interesting to the 3dcommunity are considered "on-topic".
- Do not ask how to replicate cheezy movie special effects (ie. The Matrix Bullet effect).
- We have heard this a thousand times and will get you nothing but backlash.
- Do not post junk mail. This includes get rich schemes, "free" software, chain letters, advertising, gimmicks, or blatantly plugging your website every 2 days even though there have been no updates.
- Only post your best work. Remember we are your audience so post work that is worthy of an audience. Works in progress are fine but make sure there is a substancial amount of effort into it before you ask for critique.
- Do not post requests for a specific tutorial on how to model a specific object that you want to
model (ie: "Where can I find a tutorial on, or what is the best way to: Model an elephants left buttcheek?") Most of the time these tutorials do not exist and there is no single way that is best for everybody to model anything. There are several modeling techniques within 3dstudio Max and a quick search on any search engine will bring up hundreds of tutorials with which to learn them.
Also there is a tutorial section on the forum and more can be found athttp://www.mcmach1.com/
and 3dstudiomax.dhs.org (both owned and operated by forum members).
THOU SHALT BE SPECIFIC!
Specific (pronounced..ummm...specific!) adj. 1.Accurate 2. Provide Details
Provide details. Do not ask for general help. There are many barriers between forum members
such as language, technical ability, and skill level. Be as specific with your questions as
you can so that people can understand what you are requesting.
- Include pictures with your post (To illustrate your problem or show off your work)
- Check back on your post often to see if anyone has asked for more info or doesn't understand something that you wrote
- Title your post in a way so that people know what's inside (don't be pathetic and put "Stupid Question" or "Please Help Me")
THOU SHALT BE NICE!
Nice, pronounced :) Nice :), 1.Pleasing, aggreable, appropriate, polite, kind.
Be nice to each other! We are all people here and we expect to be treated as such. Do not say
anything here that your would not say to a person if they were standing next to you.
- Ask nicely and do not expect an answer (If you ask nicely there is a good chance someone will respond, if they don't then don't complain, just take it for what it is. Maybe they did not understand you or maybe they don't know the answer. Remember no-one is obligated to respond to your post.
- Be gratefull (if someone helps you or says something nice about your work thank them, even if it's not exactly what you were looking for)
- Be respectfull and open minded (Not everyone shares your point of view, don't flame them. Sometimes it's better just to agree to disagree).
THOU SHALT HAVE FUN!
Fun (you know how to pronounce it) 1. :):):):)FUN!!!! 2. Be happy! 3. Have a good time!
Most importantly have fun. After all this is a just a forum, there is no reason to give
yourself a headache over the events that transpire here. We're just a buncha people who
share the same interest so enjoy the fact that you are able to know these people and
learn a little something.
Don't be too harsh on people and try and take it in stride.
There is nothing that will occur here that will threaten your life as you know it, it
won't affect your food supply, it won't pay your rent, it won't cause you to die of a
heart attack (unless you let it).
This forum is just entertainment and knowledge rolled up into one big avacado green line and snorted through a straw like cocaine! Well not really but for some of us it can be as addictive as cocaine so sit back and enjoy the ride.
