nice work Grotey, this is a handy list! I'll think of some obvious pointers which may be overlooked (I'm learning old tricks in 3DS Max - albeit on the 2010 interface)! If I come across anything I'll jot it down here.

good job again

I found a complete copy of this today here:http://e-articles.info/e/a/title/Things-you-didnt-know-in-3DS-Max/

I wasn't sure if they'd need permission to do this or whatever, so I thought I'd let you know.

That is pretty bloody cheeky.

Grotey, did he get our permission to steal this content?

Similar but unrelated : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11068391

Looks like the legal test is that the work is "beyond reasonable doubt" the work of others and used without permission.

They have now removed the article. Thanks for the warning, Duders.

You know, if they'd ask, I wouldn't mind (as long as it was credited).

something i like to do when baking ao, normals, diffs etc- helps me to spot areas peeping through the cage which nork up the bake
put the projection cage on shaded (which is well known and used widely) but i also set the viewport to transparency none, which makes the intersection very obvious indeed
right-click on the viewport label> transparency> none
not earth-shattering but handy

I found this out when trying to figure out how to apply a material from the Slate material editor (which I love) to the environment slot. Perhaps I was the last to figure this out, but here it is so others don't have my problem.

I had been using the "apply to selection" button previously, but this doesn't work (obviously) for the environment slot.

Maybe we should upgrade this to "1001 things..." and keep 'em coming. With new versions of Max and new features every year I suspect there will always be things we don't know about Max :)
