Blender: Yeah, the interface was alien and weird for a long time, but now I'm used to it, I wouldn't change it. Max's interface is frozen and unusable. Blender's is flexible and quick to change to different parts of the workflow. Multi window / monitor support is great. Modeling is different to in Max, but I'm slowly getting used to it.

Tonight, I are mostly be farting about with clumping particles:

Yeah, a bit of SSS does make a difference. I guess if I was going to spend more time with it, I'd make them look slimy and add more smoke. Perhaps on another sleepless night.

Anyone here have any Vray/Blender experience by chance? If so, thoughts on Vray integration into Blender when compared to Vray integration to the big AD names of 3ds/Maya?

I have been looking at beginners guides for Blender, on Youtube. I am certainly affected/biased by my time with MAX, but even so, the interface in Blender just seems,, bad. It is all about hotkeys, which are fine when you are experienced with the program, but for a beginner, it would be nice to have some proper menus(What the hell is wrong with rightclicking ?), with some information.. I feel like I need to print out the whole keyboard config, in order to actually use the program..

Also in the guides I ahve seen the modelling process seems sort of unintuitive, like the program is more about rendering than modelling.

I've come around to like it more than max. after about a year in.
Here's how I set it up, I make all my user pref set to Maya.
Then in modeling you can use those hot keys
One thing to realize is that it has a modifier panel just like in max.

Things I don't like:
Having to move the transforms to 3d curser
Uv editing, but then again I hate that in every 3d program
Matte shadow material work around.
