I'm thinking about buying HOUDINI INDIE for some stuff.

I have no idea on what to get, any Houdini heads out there?

what to get? Get HOUDINI INDIE for 200 some bucks a year as long as you aren't making over 100,000 USD annually.

Good shit man. I'm about 3-4 weeks deep in Houdini. Highly suggest it.

Coming from Maya I don't think so.. I think if I came from 3ds max things would be a bit harder to pick up on.

Overall it's actually pretty straight forward and sensible. Mostly remembering nodes, what they do and how to combine them. Worth it imo. Switching to it as my primary 3D software package over the course of this year.

How do they know if you're making over $100,000 a year?

Dunno. Ask them... It does save out files as a lc (limited commercial) version. And when opening it reverts any commercial version to the lowest denominator.

Full commercial opens Indie, the work file reverts down to a Indie limited commercial..

How does AD know that you aren't using an EDU version of 3ds Max for production? Eh?
