Issue with instanced geometry.

I am building myself a space ship to do some space battle like stuff with. I ran into a problem that I was shocked to find I could not easily solve. I have 2 objects, a muzzle flash object and a beam object. In the scene I have a gun turret with a PF emiiter on the tip of my barrel. The PF system is simple enough, a initial particle that is a instance of the muzzle flash and it spawns the beam object. It works like a charm.. except that no matter what direction my PF emitter is pointed the instanced geometry retain the orientation of the original geometry. What that means is when facing forward it all works, turn the emitter 90 degree's and while the objects fly the right direction they're still pointed forward (my beam looks like it's now flying sideways). Is there a way for my instanced geometry to orientate with my emitter?
