lights as particles... HOW???

Howdy..... first time I got the focus and nerve together to join this excellent site.
A quite elusive solution I'm seeking..... I should ask first whether this is possible.

I'm presuming that particle systems (my first choice = Super Spray due to its instancing capability, or Particle Flow) can instance null objects (Point and/or Dummy nulls), AND anything attached, regardless of the class of object- from mesh to lights?
Could have sworn I'd seen something like a toggle, to use or not use hierarchy when assigning scene objects as the particles. I know there's an animated object switch with frame or time offset, but just can't see any null+child objects.

Are the particle systems' instancing requirements restricted to actual geometric objects?

So do you want lights or a hierarchy instanced into the particles?
As for lights, the last time I checked (years ago) max doesn't do that out of the box..but you can create as many lights as you need particles and match the positions with scripting.
