so to keep it brief, i'm writing a report on 3ds max and 3d programs in general, and for some reason one of the requirements for an A is a primary source. an interview or survey, so here's a survey.
edit: also, i suppose if you put mix it would help to have you specify what mix, since to an extent just about everybody here will put mix otherwise, making for a pretty useless poll.

hey look at the poll... only 1 vote for max so far.... and i see enough max bashing on here, i figure it'll work. and in any case, a lot of my paper suggests 3ds max is the most popular 3d program (which by sales it is....) so having a poll support that would do no harm.

You'd be better off asking this over at CGTalk or similar where there's a more representative cross section. As stated, this is a max forum, so guess what software is used most ?
Also, you need to rephrase the question, because many use more than one package, so you should ask what is your primary 3d design package or similar (or allow more than one option to be selected).
I know you've got a mix option, but you can't get much useful information from that.

These days I primary use Lego for my 3d needs.
It gives me an instant gratification no other packages can.
...and I kid you not.

I used Cinema4D some time ago to make 3D fractals.
now I barely use it , its 98% of the time 3DsMax, 2% C4D.
