how to make a simple but realistic old wood material?

hey could someone tell me how to make something very similar to the image below? i was following this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpdlmPCxvrE&t=1388s

but it just seems way over complicated. Here is the result i am after.

you could use a mix map one with a wood texture and the other with the painted texture then use a black and white texture in the mix slot to mix the other two together

blends will work to some degree, if you want to be super duper close to it, i would highly recommend substance designer. You can strip the paint off where you need it and reveal underlying materials quite easily. I tried it at work for an hour and got pretty good results - no tutorials. Just got in and played with it, its stupid proof really.

thanks dmax ive been using that method and get pretty good results but only when looking at a distance.

donvella cheers for that i do want really close shots so will give that a try.
