Amazing! One of the best of these videos I've seen. Really good piloting.

So, you can obviously see the view the craft has while flying?
Where are you, it's customary to buzz by yourself in the video!

Wow thanks for your kind words! Yes, live analog transmission to my video goggles.

I did buzz by a few times actually. It was pretty cold (-10 celsius) and I flew from inside the car. Grey bimmer.

I want one of these with a headset..are those mainstream yet or do you have to put that together yourself? A 2 camera setup or something so you get real stereoscopic vision..

thats some great clip, the music is nice too. was it done with a gopro? if so what version do you have? my brother in law just got a gopro 4 black...

the only crit i have is that sometimes we can see the shadow of the drone, which IMHO takes away a bit from the magic of this clip

After trying the goggles I never fly line of sight now. It is extremely addictive and gives you a vantage point hardly anybody can experience.

Everything is available to buy but there is always some tinkering needed due to various video frequency options, antennas, power systems etc..
Funny you mentioned it, Octopuzzy, as sterescopic vision is actually something I'm putting together now. Still waiting on some back-order parts, but it's all available. There are 3d cameras made specifically for the hobby. It takes away a bit from the quality due to analog video bottleneck but stereo depth should balance the loss in quality.

Thanks, joelr. The music was done by Trygve Stakkeland who sincerely kicks ass with his audio work. Footage was shot with a gopro 3 black, superview, 30fps (can't say why on earth didn't I have 60fps mode on). Very good point about the shadow! It does take away, unfortunately.

I really enjoyed the clip. Thanks for posting :)
What's the maximum range for the remote? And how much autonomy do you have?

Yea, I can imagine so! I bet it's tempting to just keep on flying farther and farther out, beyond your range? haha!

Looks great :)

I bet something like this with a VR headset would be a blast! Or is that what you are referring to already? Setup a mini rig so that the camera rotates with your head, that would be sweet.

This is the future of video games. Imagine having a setup like this attached to some grahics imposed over. Could do star wars, a zombie shooter, mini WWII dogfight simulator. Ooh.

Nice Del3d :)

What video goggles do you use?

www.getfpv.com - they sell everything you need to build yourself a setup...

This video is annoying but teaches you the basic setup...

lol you guys are awesome.

@rob
Set up like this is ~$2,500 or so

@Garp
happy to share! Glad you like it! Really makes me happy.
This rig is using 433MHz UHF for radio control and I honestly don't know my range. It is in miles. It is much farther than my video which is about a mile or so which I can increase with different antennas, antenna trackers etc but those get bulky and cumbersome.
UHF can take you tens of miles. You always want your radio stronger than your video.
Autonomy? This machine is fully manual, you can't get it to hover on its own in a fixed point in space and go get coffee or make it return to home. You need 101% attention all the time. Adrenaline is way up there and you get sweaty by sitting motionless.

@Error
Absolutely! Going beyond your range is the biggest nightmare. There are remedies for that, but not on this machine. My other one does return to home and land on its own if I loose signal or order it to.
Yes, fpv video goggles are like a VR headset. I do have head tracking capability just don't use it. Head tracking is good for long range systems if you're way up and above, cruising and looking around makes sense.

@LionDebt
Foxtech AIO but getting the Dominator HDs for 3D.
The above video is from aboard a QAV400.. made by getfpv :) I'm their regular.

Yeah I'm itching to start a build but the Dominator HDs are what I really want... typically the most expensive part ;)

Thanks for the infos, del3d :)
By autonomy I meant how long can it fly before the battery gets depleted? Did you make the whole clip with a single battery or do you have a bag full of them?
