Start Volume lighting--not from the point of souce
show user profile  LongTimeNoSee
Does anyone know how to make volume lighting start from a certain point of the beam rather than the source of the light.

For example, start volume from a window and interior rather than completely outside the window and adjacent windows of the room...thus with a completely foggy exterior outside the windows.

I could use copied lights, excluding different objects for each light but I feel there is a better way since this is a typical desire for a lot of renderings with volume lighting in a room through glass windows where you can also see the exterior through the window.

I'm using scanline. (There is a reason...working on the same renderings using scanline lighting and materials vs Mental Ray lighting and materials. I'll try Vray once I get my hands on it. Doing this as an experiment and learning exercise for the nature of renderers and how that calculate.)
