Vray 3.40.01 use half of CPU power when render glossy materials
show user profile  PPGSTUDIOS
Hi there. I´m using Vray 3.40.01 on 3dstudio max 2014, i realice in interiors scenes, CPU it´s on less than 40%. It occurred only when the scene has glossy materials. It happens in brute force and irradiance maps. In the studio we have a render farm with different kind of configurations, from 12 cores to 28 cores (physical). The fasters workstations are the slowers with this problem.
Please someone knows why?..
Thanks.

That is pretty weird dude. So this is what you should try doing as Vray should be using 100% of your CPU and a portion of your soul for rendering...

-Revert Vray to it's defaults (turn on GI/Caustics if you need it). This is just to rule out some odd setting in Vray.

-Turn off low thread priority if it's turned on (this shouldn't be causing only 40% of your CPU to be used).

-Make sure you have CPU parking turned off. I'm not a tech-nut, but I always turn off my parking just to make sure I'm working my CPU hard. This is assuming you have an INTEL unit and are using windows. If you are running something else then ignore me.

Let me know if that fixed it (it probably won't, but just in case). Good luck.
